Spain's hotels sold almost the same number of nights in July 2026 as a year earlier and still grew revenue. Rate did the work.
INE, in the Coyuntura Turística Hotelera published on 21 August 2026, reports 44.8 million hotel overnight stays in July, up 0.3% on July 2025. Occupancy covered 71.1% of available bed places, up 0.9%. ADR reached 156.9 euros, up 6.8%. RevPAR reached 119.3 euros, up 6.6%.
RevPAR grew 6.6% while ADR grew 6.8%. Volume added nothing.
What to check before you price next summer
- Domestic demand is the soft side. Resident stays fell 1.1%, non-resident stays rose 1.1%.
- Foreign volume is concentrated: the Balearics took 33.4% of non-resident nights, Catalonia 20.2%, the Canary Islands 18.6%. The UK alone accounted for 25.8%.
- Compare your own July. If occupancy held and your ADR grew less than 6.8%, you lost rate share while your occupancy report looked healthy.
Is flat volume a problem? Only if you keep measuring success by occupancy. With nights stuck at last year's level, the next euro comes from rate, mix and length of stay, not from more volume.
